Mr Kemp, Executive Director & General Counsel of the US Business Leadership Network (USBLN) and a Principal with the Washington DC law firm Powers, Pyles, Sutter & Verville, P.C. accepted the invitation which was extended by the board of the GNED at the USBLN 2010 conference in Chicago where GNED was had its inaugural presentation to 500 business leaders.
“I am delighted to accept the invitation said John Kemp yesterday. “The role of Global Ambassador with GNED is important and timely. This young organization is an excellent initiative and will assist people with disabilities (PWDs) to own and operate their own businesses, I embrace their aims and objectives and will do what I can to spread the word about their existence and facilitate appropriate introductions.”
Mr Kemp joins two international business luminaries – Suzanne Colbert AM, CEO of the Australian Network on Disability (for employers) and Susan Scott-Parker OBE, CEO of the Employers Forum on Disability in the UK.
“I am well acquainted with and admire the work and achievements of Suzanne and Susan in the disability employment space. Both have international reputations for excellence in their field and both have received high civil honors from their countries.
Mr Kemp is himself a highly honored individual, for his work as a lawyer, as a business leader and as a person with a disability. He was awarded the New Freedom Initiative Award in 2007 for furthering the employment and workspace environment for PWDs. In 2006 he received the Henry B. Betts Award, widely regarded as America’s highest honor for disability leadership and service. He has served on Federal government commissions including Medicaid. Currently he serves on the State Department’s Advisory Committee on Persons with Disabilities which guides the Secretary of State and the Agency for International Development (USAID) in the formulation and implementation of US foreign policy and assistance with respect to PWDs.
